Government General Degree College, Banarhat, which was recently rechristened Banarhat Kartik Oraon Hindi Government College, was established in the year 2014. The Hindi medium college, the first here of its kind in West Bengal, has been hailed as the ‘Dream Project’ of the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, whose initiative and dedication towards the improvement of educational infrastructure in the region resulted in the birth of this institution. Initially, the college functioned from the temporary campus at Birpara in Alipurduar district. In December 2015, on the verge of completing two consecutive academic sessions, the college has finally shifted to its designated campus, which is located near the Moraghat Tea Garden, Banarhat, in the district of Jalpaiguri….
